Final Fantasy 14
Final Fantasy XIV, previously codenamed Project Rapture, was first mentioned in August 2005, when Square Enix announced they had begun working on a new MMORPG. It was neither confirmed nor denied that it was a sequel to Final Fantasy XI, or that it was Final Fantasy related.
On June 2nd, 2009, at the Sony E3 Press Conference, Final Fantasy XIV Online was announced exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and PC platforms, with a trailer similar to the intro of Final Fantasy XI. It is assumed that Final Fantasy XIV is actually what has come from Project Rapture. Final Fantasy XIV will be produced by Tanaka and directed by Nobuaki Komoto. Akihiko Yoshida is the art director, and Nobuo Uematsu is composing the music. It will be cross-platform, meaning both platforms can play on the same servers together. It will also utilize the new Square Enix Account System and support the similar Final Fantasy XI Security Token System.
